Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job
- Supervise all personnel assigned involved with shipping, receiving and material movement both within the plant and between external locations.
- Coordinate all material movement with Division Transportation personnel and outside warehousing functions.
- Assure accuracy and maintain integrity of SAP, ICONS and plant systems involved with documentation and accounting for materials movement.
- Lead work group effort in continuous improvement for improved inventory accuracy, reduced materials loss, warehouse cost reduction, improved efficiency in materials movement and storage.
- Train employees in safety, quality, cost and service procedural compliance and improvement.
- Assure all shipping orders filled meet internal and customer procedures and expectations.
- Assure all goods received and stored are handled according to internal and customer procedures and expectations.
- Reports to Customer Excellence Manager.
Main Accountabilities
Position Responsibilities
- Supervision- supervises assigned hourly and nonexempt employees. Provide direction and follow-up to assure compliance with established work procedures and safety and quality expectations.
- Training- Train employees in safety, quality and work methods.
- Communication- Communicate plant performance expectations to employees, address employee concerns appropriately and with in job scope. Communicate to other plant functions to address operating requirements and communicate externally to Division Logistics, carriers and outside warehouses to coordinate plant operations with required services.
- Cost Management- manage labor and supplies accounts with in budget and scope. Provide input to budget development. Assure accuracy in all accounting interactions and communication.
- Comply with Company Policies for SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) and Quality.
Challenges
- Indirect Supervision- Responsible for personnel on all three shifts, from day shift position. Must rely on Production supervisors to follow up on night shift operations. Must investigate and follow up on Production concerns arising from operation on any shift.
- Resource Decisions- Must assign limited resources to meet all operations material movement requirements while managing constraints involved with labor costs, storage space, dock availability and outside warehousing costs.
- Interaction- Must develop workable solutions to meet operational needs while addressing limitations with customers, Division Logistics, Carriers and external warehousing sites. Must maintain flexibility and manage outside business relationships to meet operations changes and requirements.
Scope
- Mange labor and supplies budget
- Responsible for inventory and transaction accuracy
- Systems responsibility for SAP, ICONS and other legacy systems.
Key Skills
- Implement responsible care programs assuring safety and quality elements of warehouse operations. Measurement and analysis of inventory and cost elements.
- Manage interaction with external and internal personnel to meet customer service quality and cost requirements
Relevant Experience
- Bachelor Degree.
- 4-6 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
